Lance, You're truly an innovator when it comes to creating the next generation of HR. In my experience It is rare for HR professionals to focus on building the business and that's exactly what you do. You even put on a non-HR hat several times at QualitySmith when the business needed help rolling out a new product or leading a sales team. It was great to work with you directly at QualitySmith and to benefit first-hand from your hiring and people management expertise. It's been inspirational to follow the building of your HR blogging and social networking kingdom.

Lance,
You are a true social media expert. While attaining this status is the goal of many, they take the wrong approach. They attempt to game the system. Clever SEO and hundreds of twitter spam accounts are their hallmarks. But this is not your approach.
You have climbed the social media ladder by actually caring about your topic. By generating genuine conversations. You count your success in real friends made, not followers collected. In short, you see social media as a way to open your virtual home and welcome people in.
And like a virtual living room, you are not afraid to say what you think. Brand management to you is important only to the extent that your “brand” is not manufactured but a true reflection of yourself. This may loose you some “followers”, but it gains you real friends.
It was this approach to social media that caught my attention and ultimately landed you a job at MeritBuilder. Since that time you have significantly increased our traffic and search engine standing. While many promise the same outcome, you come about it the honest way. You work for it!
You joined our project because you understood our mission which, at it core, is to help people! Perhaps because our mission closely aligns with your personal goals, you were able to instantly communicate MeritBuilder with a confidence unmatched by even the founders.
You ARE a true social media “ninja”, an outstanding asset to the company, and a good friend. I look forward to the future. It is sure to be bright!
Sincerely, R. Dustin Henderson
Co-Founder MeritBuilder.com

Lance,
First of all, I'd like to say thank you. From day one, you have treated this project as your own - and it shows. Your level of dedication and excellence have immediately helped shape and grow MeritBuilder, and will continue to do so as we advance through these stages of development and production. Your knowledge and experience with HR has been invaluable for MeritBuilder, not to mention your willingness to use of your own resources and connections [which you have so diligently built over the past few years].
I would also like to thank you for your willingness to help me through this new adventure and new season. Your insight and example have helped me to better serve this vision.
I look forward to continuing to work with you to help build and serve a community around MeritBuilder with the individual and the corporation.

Lance, I wanted to tell you how awesome it has been working with you. I remember when you first came on to the project. I was a little nervous at the time, especially hiring someone in Portland over a conference call, but I was very excited after our first team meeting. After our second conference call as a team, I had no doubt in my mind you were the "right guy at the right time".
The insight you bring into the MeritBuilder conversation has been invaluable. You have helped guide our messaging, product, and have already started to grow a great online community and presence for MeritBuilder. Your background and knowledge within the HR space helps us create a platform that truly can help people and solve HR's problems. Most of all, I admire how you hang back and listen to Dustin or myself as we loose all traces of sanity at times as we get bogged down in the details of code or design, and you bring back into focus of what really matters. Helping people. Thanks again for taking ownership of this project, and I look forward to what lies ahead.
