Chad,

I remember when I was told you were being selected as President of QualitySmith and how excited I was about it. You are a great leader, one of the best I've worked with. You focus on results while taking the long view (something many execs claim to do but rarely execute). When you've stumbled, you've never made excuses.

You're also a great friend and I am glad we got to grow together in our careers. Looking forward to many more years of talking ball or talking business.

Oh, and one more thing. Go Cougs!

Did you know that we have a bona fide super-hero in our midst?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s SUPER SALESMAN!

Over the last several weeks we have launched three waves of business initiatives that go to our balance sheet to the tune of about $10,000 per week each when running at their full potential: our QualitySmith Premier product, the selling of shared leads to Service Magic, and an expansion of the shared lead program that approximately doubles its revenue.

This morning we got the word that Home Depot wants to do a trial with us booking appointments for their contractors nationwide in roofing, siding, and windows. National coverage in roofing is something we have sought for a long time. The price we agreed on with them is about 33% higher than what they were originally offering. This program, when it becomes permanent, will bring in $50,000/month (at a conservative estimate).

There’s a similar program in the works with another national partner.

There’s plenty of credit to go to all the folks in B2B, B2C, in analytics, finance, marketing, and technology  who are implementing and executing these programs, but they all come together at one point: Chad Kreutz.

Chad will go all aw-shucks modest when he reads this, but all of these amazing things, deals that we need so badly at this point in the year, go back to Chad, his creativity and his skill and persistence in crafting these deals and selling them to partners.  In typically modest manner he says that all of these were there for the taking. Well, that may be true, but someone had to recognize the opportunities they represent, package them as mutually attractive business propositions, and sell them. Not everyone has that kind of ability.

We’re still not out of the woods. We’re still looking for the black ink on the P&L (we’re close, very very close) and we need to sustain through our seasonal downturn in volume.

Still, we should take a moment to celebrate the wins we’ve achieved and are about to achieve – they make a HUGE difference. Let’s maintain the focus and enthusiasm that I’ve seen everywhere in the company over the last month or so.

And let’s remember to congratulate Chad and thank him for what he’s doing to make us all successful.

Thanks, boss!

And thanks to all of you, friends and colleagues, for all you do.
