1. The reason for the thanks (dedicated, creative, good friend...)
2. The impact it had (landed a customer, made you feel good...)
3. A hint at the future (keep it up, looking forward to...)

Of course try to close with a final thanks and your first name. Remember - Merit Notes can be displayed anywhere - so don't say anything you would not want the world to read
